Lets face it, the time you spend breastfeeding your child is not the most glamourous period of your life (certainly not in my case anyway!). So when an opportunity to look and feel a little bit lovely presents itself, grab it with both hands! Hotmilk is a New Zealand company which produces maternity and nursing underwear. But not any normal nursing underwear (i.e. the kind that starts at your naval and finishes just under your chin and looks like something that you had previously imagined only an elderly spinster aunt would wear), they make really beautiful lingerie sets.
Sorry about the pictures, obviously these models are not anatomically correct…. their stomachs should resemble four-day-old balloons, they should have large bags under their eyes and their hair shouldn’t be brushed, but you get the idea!! This lingerie actually looks like something you would wear when you aren’t pregnant or breastfeeding. I hope I’m not providing too much information when I tell you that I have several sets of Hotmilk underwear and I really like them. The quality is lovely and I have found them really comfortable. Hotmilk have a sizing guide on their site but I had gone into one of the larger department stores to be measured in by a maternity fitter (only to discover the store only had one type of hideous nursing bra in stock!!) so I ordered the size she gave me and they fitted perfectly. Though I must admit that I did have a slightly embarrassing moment when they first arrived, I looked at the bras and thought I had ordered the wrong size, they looked enormous and I was convinced that they would swamp me…..lets just say that I had underestimated my own ‘circumference’ (for want of a better word).
The prices are really good and there is 20% off Hotmilk underwear at Figleaves at the minute. Hotmilk also do some lovely nightwear (see below) and nursing camisoles which are worth checking out. A nice treat for yourself for Christmas perhaps?
